Dixon May Day Parade 1917. Hutton Brothers Dairy float on large white milk bottles on a wagon being pulled by four horses. "Preparedness" is sign on milk bottles. Appears to be a tribute to World War I. Men on horses and three boys on the wagon wearing uniforms. Parade is going north on North First Street in front of the Palace Hotel. Capitol Hotel in the background. The street is not paved.

Capitol Hotel on the s.e. corner of First and A Streets. Four gentlemen standing in front of the entrance. One gentlemen standing on balcony. The hotel was destroyed in a disastrous fire in 1920. After this fire the community raised $10,000 to purchase the city's first fire truck.
