Dixon Police Department's received their first patrol car and official uniforms in 1946. Shown here left to right - Chief Bud Peters , Ray Crawford, Pete Murphy standing proudly in front of their new vehicle. Prior to 1946, the officers used their own automobiles for patrol. Bud Peters became Chief of Police in 1946 on the death of Dixon's first Police Chief Clay Groves in an automobile accident in Sacramento.
